Speech Therapy and Areas of Specialized Treatment

Grounded in function and autonomy

Speech Therapy

I provide client-centered, developmentally grounded speech and language treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. Services are available in English and Spanish and are designed to support meaningful communication, participation, and quality of life across settings.

Treatment address:

  • Language disorders

  • Speech sound and intelligibility differences

  • Social communication differences, including autism

  • Complex communication needs, including augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)

Intervention is collaborative and evidence-based, with goals that are attuned to where each individual is in all domains of development.

Areas of Specialized Treatment

While I am equipped to provide treatment across all speech and language domains, I offer specialized intervention in the areas described below.

Early Childhood

I provide highly individualized therapy that supports autonomy, connection, and functional communication from birth through age six across a wide range of developmental profiles and diagnoses. Therapy is designed to help the child communicate with all caregivers, reducing frustration and behavioral challenges and liberating parents and teachers to focus on joyful connection. Treatment emphasizes generalization and can be provided in clinic or in community based settings such as home or school.

Adolescent Social Communication

Treatment supports individuals with social communication differences, whether associated with autism, ADHD, or no formal diagnosis. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based, and centered on helping each adolescent build a social life that is safe and authentic.

Areas of focus may include:

  • Navigating friendships and negative peer relationships

  • Communication with teachers and parents

  • Understanding social expectations without forcing compliance

  • Exploring digital safety, and vulnerability

  • Ensuring accurate, age appropriate understanding of topics related to sexuality, and relationships

Complex Communication & AAC Across the Lifespan

I support multi-modal communication development for individuals with complex communication needs. This may include children or adults who:

  • Have physical or motor-based speech differences (e.g., cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome)

  • Are unintelligible after a stroke or traumatic brain injury

  • Are autistic and communicate more effectively through AAC

Treatment includes use of augmentative and alternative communication methods (AAC). AAC may include high-tech systems, such as speech-generating devices or tablet-based applications, as well as low-tech or no-tech options, including paper-based communication. Systems are selected collaboratively and designed to be flexible and responsive to changing needs and contexts.
